A Scary Thought By Joanne We are all aware that on May 1, probably all of the military and the police will be at the voting sites, trying to regulate a violence-free election day. This means that there will probably be less security in Malacanang. Now here's a scary thought: What if pro-Erap rallyistis decide to enter Malacanang again? We all know that less than two weeks ago, the life of our dear president was at stake. Yes, who can forget that chaotic day? 6 were killed and many were injured. The media, the Filipino elite and the government were the main target of the masses' rebellious act. 3 Senatorial candidates were said to be the masterminds of the people's attack. This is my concern: How sure are we that they won't try to do it again? Can you imagine what a tragedy it would be if there wouldn't be enough security to protect GMA and people would suddenly come rushing in her home? Obviously, this will disrupt the people's voting. News of this sort would alarm the Filipino voting public and they might decide that they would rather stay at home where it's safe than go out and vote. Moreover, it would cause another major political instability as far as the other countries are concerned. Well, this is just a thought, But nevertheless, it is possible. It is amazing how the Philippine government is still trying to stand tall in spite of the many downfalls it has just experienced. Our republic is indeed still very new and has yet to learn many more things. Will election day be filled with explosions, if not by bombs then by the people? Will Mrs. President be safe on Monday? Will the people behave on May 14 and allow its country to vote for 13 more leaders who will try to make a difference in their lives? A call--to the military and the police: Please, do your job well. The country's security is in your hands. To the people: Please, control your tempers and allow us to have "peace" and go about our duties as a citizen this coming Monday.
