Interview with MANNY VILLAR
By Georgia

From small businessman to House Speaker, Manny Villar has come a long way from his humble beginnings. After completing three terms as Las Pinas Congressman, he is now running for the Senate with the People Power Coalition.

Despite his hectic schedule, he replied immediately to our interview through e-mail. (You can email him, too, through his website: mannyvillar.com) Read on and find out what he has to say about his political party, how he plans to help the Filipino people, and his comment on the Edsa III.

What major issues do you raise in your platform, and why do you think it's important to raise these issues?Read his platform
The issues I raised in my platform are important for me because these are the fundamental needs of every Filipino: jobs, shelter, education, infrastructure, and values, among other things.

You were a businessman before you became a congressman, how has your experience in business helped you in politics?
My business perspective helped me a lot because politics is also management of resources, physical and human.

How did you decide to run for the Senate? Was it something you have always wanted to do or did you realize the importance of running at the last minute?
I've considered the option after my third tem as congressman, bus i was also considering if I was ready for it, given the political situation.

Being a member of the People Power Coalition, what can you say about the "People Power III"?
The so-called Edsa III never seemed to have a coherent political call except sympathy to former President Estrada. However, it is something political leaders should seriously consider or hear because it comes from a sector of society that seems so distant from the mainstream.

What are some pros and cons about being a member of a political party?
A political party has certain resources and network which help a candidate a lot, especially first-timers in the national scene.

Why should we vote for you?
Vote for me if you think we share the same values and principles in life.
