  • Thereafter, he questioned before the Supreme Court along with others: 1) the ratification of the Marcos-dictated 1973 Constitution; 2) amendment Six that empowered President Marcos to exercise law-making powers alongside the Batasan Pambansa; 3) the power of military tribunals to try civilians.
  • Participated before military commissions in the defense of Ninoy Aquino, Eugenio Lopez, Jr., Jose Maria Sison, Commander Dante, Jovito Salonga, Eva Kalaw and many others.
  • Handled more human rights cases than any other lawyer, from 1972-1986.
  • Incarcerated, thrown into bartolina and held incommunicado and in solitary in a military stockade.
  • Gassed, injured and hospitalized during protest rallies.
  • Counsel of Cory Aquino in the snap elections.
  • Co-founded FLAG and MABINI.
